How to Dry Blueberries
1. Prep the Berries
Wash the blueberries, then blanch them in boiling water for 30 seconds before plunging them into an ice bath. This cracks the skins so they dry faster and don’t get tough.
2. Choose Your Method
Spread the prepped berries in a single layer:
- Dehydrator: Dry at 135°F–145°F for 12–24 hours (use mesh liners for better airflow).
- Oven: Set to 140°F–150°F for 12–24 hours, keeping the door propped slightly open to release moisture.
- Air Fryer: Use the dehydrate setting at 120°F–135°F for 11–17 hours.
How to Tell They’re Done: The berries should be shriveled, leathery, and completely dry to the touch. There should be zero stickiness or visible moisture inside.
3. Storage
Let them cool completely, then store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place for up to one year.
