Edible Strawberry Marshmallow Play Dough
Ingredients
- A handful of washed and mashed strawberries
- Marshmallows (any type, shape, color, or size)
- Cornflour
- 1 teaspoon of cooking oil (Coconut oil is great, but olive oil works well too)
Tips for Play
- We recommend lining your table with greaseproof paper.
- As you are handling food that could be eaten afterward, wash hands and play tools thoroughly.
- The dough can be used like normal play dough: it’s great for rolling out, making imprints, and using with cookie cutters and play tools.
Instructions
- Melt the Marshmallows: Place the marshmallows in a glass or ceramic bowl. Note: The sugar in the marshmallows gets very hot when heated, so do not use a plastic bowl.
- Heat: Microwave the bowl on high for 30 seconds.
- Mix in Wet Ingredients: Carefully remove the bowl. Try not to touch the marshmallow mixture, as it will be boiling hot. Add in the teaspoon of cooking oil and the mashed strawberries, and mix them well into the marshmallows.
- Add Cornflour: Slowly add in small amounts of cornflour at a time. Keep stirring and adding until the mixture forms a firm but slightly sticky ball.
- Knead and Cool: Once it forms a ball, you can begin to knead it with your hands. Do not add too much cornflour, as the mixture will naturally firm up and become less sticky as it cools. Too much cornflour will make the play dough too solid and hard to use later.
Play: Once the play dough has cooled and firmed up, it’s ready to play with!
