Our Top 10 Apple Varieties Countdown

We grow dozens of varieties of apples right here on our 300 acres. While we love the traditional classics, these ten selected varieties are absolute standouts in our orchard. Here is our countdown of some of our favorites, what makes each one special, and how they taste!

  1. Arkansas Black (Late Season): Famous for its deep dark color, this apple is tart, very firm, and keeps exceptionally well over time. It is a fantastic choice for traditional Southern baking and pies.
  2. Crimson Crisp (Mid-Season): Living up to its name perfectly, this variety boasts a rich, sweet-tart flavor profile and is highly prized for being extremely crisp.
  3. Ginger Gold (Early Season): This is the first great-eating apple of our harvest year, typically kicking things off in late July. It offers a wonderful sweet-tart balance and serves as an excellent all-purpose apple.
  4. Ludacrisp (Mid-Season): An exciting and distinct variety in our orchard that offers a unique, deep flavor profile that apple enthusiasts love to seek out.
  5. Granny Smith (Late Season): The quintessential tart choice. It is ultra-firm and excellent for fresh eating, juicing, and acting as the gold standard for baking inside our pies.
  6. Fuji (Late Season): One of our absolute finest late-harvest varieties. It is incredibly firm, crunchy, sugary-sweet, and makes for an excellent eating apple.
  7. Gala (Early Season): Arriving right at the start of August, this is a beautifully sweet, crisp eating apple that is a favorite for fresh snapping straight out of the bag.
  8. Ambrosia (Mid Season): A phenomenal, sweet eating apple that stands out for its beautiful color and an excellent, satisfying crunch.
  9. Pink Lady (Late Season): A wonderful late-season choice that gives you a delicious balance of sweet, tart, and juicy notes. It’s a fantastic all-purpose apple for cooking or eating fresh.
  10. EverCrisp (Late Season): A powerhouse late apple that is incredibly sweet, juicy, crisp, and firm. Because it holds its texture so beautifully, it is great for baking into pies.
