Top 5 Things to Do on the Farm

Jul 2, 2026

Mercier Orchards is so much more than just a place to pick up a bushel of fresh fruit. Whether you’re planning a fun-filled family day trip or a relaxing weekend getaway, our historic farm offers unforgettable Southern experiences for everyone. From biting into our famous bakery treats to taking a scenic tractor tour through the groves, there’s always something magical happening here. Read on for the top five must-do activities to add to your ultimate orchard itinerary!

  1. U-Pick Fruit Events: The ultimate hands-on experience, allowing you to harvest your own fruit straight from the branches and vines of our orchards! U-Pick changes as the seasons come and go; our fall apple season is perhaps our most well-known (and for good reason), but we also have strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, vegetable, and flower U-Pick events in the spring and summer!
  2. Tractor-Drawn Wagon Tours: While U-Pick varies on the season, we still offer tractor tours throughout the entire year. Join us for a scenic ride through the 300-acre property, offering sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and farm history.
  3. Hard Cider & Wine Flights: For our older guests, the winery is a great place to stop by and unwind. Head to the tasting room to sample flights brewed entirely from Mercier’s own harvested fruits.
  4. Pantry Shopping at the Farm Market: The Market is in many ways the central hub of Mercier. Here, we have many goods available for purchase, both from our orchards and from fellow local farmers and artisans. Stock up on local honey, Apple Butter, specialized sauces, baking mixes, unique Georgia-made cheeses, and plenty more.
  5. Fishing: Located right up front as you arrive, our beautiful, stocked pond is completely free and open to the public during normal market hours. It’s a wonderful spot to slow down, stretch your legs, and enjoy the crisp mountain air right away. Just be sure to pack your own poles, tackle, and bait, as we do not provide fishing gear on-site. Grab a warm fried pie from the bakery, head right out to the water, and cast a line with the family!
