​Picnic on the Farm is the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture’s signature annual fundraiser — a roaming celebration of Georgia’s rich and diverse agricultural landscape. Each year, the event “pops up” at a new scenic farm, vineyard, or historic site somewhere across the state, offering guests a fresh opportunity to explore a different corner of Georgia agriculture.
Picnic on the Farm
The Georgia Foundation for Agriculture’s annual “Picnic on the Farm” fundraiser will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (with VIP early entry at 12:00 PM) at our farm. This event offers guests a unique farm-to-table experience with live music, educational activities, and local shopping, all while supporting the GFA’s mission to fund scholarships, agricultural education, and farmer mental health programs.

From vineyard tours in the mountains to seafood boils on the coast, each Picnic on the Farm is uniquely curated to reflect the local landscape and farming traditions of the host site. Guests enjoy a farm-to-table picnic, live music, hands-on demos, local shopping, and educational experiences — all while supporting GFA’s mission to fund scholarships, ag education, and farmer mental health programs. WHAT TO EXPECT
Farm-to-Table Picnic
Enjoy a picnic basket lunch filled with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. VIP guests enjoy pre-set picnic spots with blankets, umbrellas, and extra touches — all with stunning orchard views.
Farm Tours & Tastings
Join guided tours through Mercier Orchards to learn how apples are grown, harvested, and processed. Along the way, enjoy tastings of fresh fruit and local products made right on the farm.
Pick-Your-Own Apples
Wander orchard rows and harvest crisp apples straight from the tree — a hands-on, seasonal tradition that celebrates North Georgia’s rich apple-growing heritage and offers a memorable farm experience for guests of all ages.
Wine, Cider & Cash Bar
Sip hard cider and fruit wines crafted on-site, or choose from a selection of cold beverages at the cash bar. Tastings and full pours are available throughout the event for guests 21 and older.
Family Fun & Lawn Games
Relax with live local music, picnic games like cornhole and ring toss, and family-friendly activities that welcome guests of all ages to enjoy the day in a casual, fun-filled setting.
Art in the Orchard
Watch plein air painters capture the spirit of the orchard in real time, and help create a collaborative community art piece celebrating Georgia agriculture and the beauty of our rural landscape.
